On February 21, 2019, the “ICT against racism and xenophobia” conference organized in the framework of the ICT for Peace project of the Cyber Volunteers Foundation and Peace Culture Foundation was carried out, with the collaboration of the DEMOSPAZ Institute- UAM and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Within this day, DEMOSPAZ participated organizing with its XVI Research Seminar on “Origins, causes, forms and manifestations of racism and xenophobia. The role of ICT to prevent and address them”.

Speakers:

Pedro Rojo Pérez, President of the Al Fanar Foundation and Co-Director of the Islamophobia Observatory

Ricardo Cana of the Communication Area of the Spanish Refugee Assistance Commission (CEAR).

The topic of how Information and Communication Technologies can be a tool against racism and xenophobia was discussed, as they offer spaces to share information and increase public awareness and commitment to these attitudes.
