Short Course: “Critical Thinking Classics”
Dates: February 12, 2019 – May 7, 2019
Directed by Jorge Riechmann Fernández and César de Vicente Hernando
Organized by Instituto DEMOSPAZ, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UAM.
This course addressed the different conceptions of the world and societies and offers analytical tools to address complexity, pointing out their aporia, their contradictions and affirming their horizons of transformative possibility. This critical thinking, which has developed in all continents and in all ages, has been forming a set of ideas, methodologies and practical experiences useful both to know in depth our time and to address the needs of radical social change. The objective of the course was to study and discuss a set of classic texts of critical thinking in order to present an emancipatory discourse of humanity and the social forms in which it can materialize. For this, authors such as Flora Tristán, Antonio Gramsci, Rosa Luxemburg, Cornelio Castoriadis, among others were studied.
