Short course: UAM – Instituto Demospaz “Memory and Education for Peace: Strands of Living Peace”

How to think the violence of this world in a non-victimizing and despotizing way? How to deal with violence? How to deconstruct the image of the enemy and the logic of the opposing sides?
These and other issues guide the Short Training Course UAM-DEMOSPAZ «Memory and Education for Peace: Strands of Living Peace», organized with the collaboration of the UNESCO Chair in Education for Social Justice and the Faculty of Philosophy of the UAM.
The course was taught by Juan Gutierrez, Mediator and Researcher for Peace, Founder of the Gernika Gogoratuz Center and the Strands of Peace Live Project. It is a practical and participatory course that offers methodological tools and teaching resources to develop a reflection on the construction of memory and education for peace. The objectives were:
- Understand and critically analyze violence, the notion of positive peace and its relationship in the construction of memory.
- Develop skills and strategies to build stories and stories that favor the construction of peace and coexistence.
- Identify the appropriate tools for the development of educational and artistic projects aimed at building positive peace from the notion of strands of living peace.
All sessions were held at the La Corrala Cultural Center. C / Carlos Arniches 3 and 5. (Metro La Latina) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from January 28 to February 20, from 3pm to 8pm, according to the following calendar:
